City escape from Pool

Man City escaped the horror of losing to a League Two side – but only just about, Andy Lowe spoke after the match about his team,

“Well I am very disappointed with the result, even though I rested a few players, the players I did play are premiership standard players”

The City boss also blasted,

It should have been a massacre, not a 1-0 win in extra time”

He also realized how Lucky City were to be facing Liverpool in Round 4 – and had this to say before heading to the changing rooms to dish out some strong words,

“Well done to Hartlepool, but there should be some nervous faces in the dressing room now though.”

Palace of Dreams

Crystal Palace boss Rob Price is hoping for an upset in the 4th Round of the League Cup, his side were drawn against Chelsea in the next Round, and a £2million reward awaits them,

A cash-strapped Club like Palace could really do with the money – and the 19th March will be interesting as the 2 London club’s meet.

Tractor-Boys misery continues

Ipswich have Loaned in another player in a bid to turn things around, but if things weren’t bad enough McManaman of Man City is actually Cup-tied – and cannot play in a vital League Cup game against Arsenal,

Manager Steven Smith is desperate to get Ipswich moving in the right direction in the League as well – with just 1 win out of 5 a Play-off spot looks a long shot even at this early stage of the season.

Desailly stuck in the Toffee

Former French International Desailly has finished his short Loan spell at Ipswich, but has now found himself on the receiving end of a tug-o-war, Everton made an initial bid of £1.8million – but then tried to haggle the deal down too £1.5million,

Chelsea were unhappy with this offer and the move has been delayed further until an agreement has been reached,

But Everton is expected to bump the offer back to the original £1.8million – and should sign him by the end of the week.

Beckham is the Real deal

Chelsea today unveiled their £35million capture – England captain David Beckham arrived in style – Paul Brown has not made an official statement yet - but he’s expected to comment about Beckham being unavailable for the Champions League campaign, Many have suggested this is critical and could affect their chances of winning the competition, and facing Real Madrid in the later stages of the Cup is a possibility – But either way Chelsea fans have already started queuing up for their Chelsea shirts with BECKHAM written across the back.
